Job Profile Summary
Responsible for the planning and execution of Lean deployment as assigned. May be asked to design the business case, create the resource plan, consult with executive sponsors and business partners, create the sustainability model, provide direction to the Lean deployment team, and create and execute the deployment plan. Solves complex organizational problems using Lean and other continuous improvement techniques. Contributes to the enterprise-wide strategy and execution model for Lean and continuous improvement. Mentors and educates associates to influence cultural transformation regarding Lean and continuous improvement. Requires deep understanding of Lean and continuous improvement.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to Director/Sr. Consultant; no direct reports but may lead project or virtual teams.
CORE JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the planning and execution of Lean deployment as assigned, which may include business case development, business partner resource strategy, objective setting, project plan, sustainability strategy, and day-to-day management of a deployment pod or deployment elements from Planning to Implementation
Manages day-to-day activities of a Lean deployment pod or deployment elements, as assigned, which may include providing direction to a working team, including dedicated business partners, junior BTO Lean team members, and third-party contract partners
Consults with executives, deployment leaders and other business partners, and other deployment sponsors or stakeholders, as assigned, to influence the strategy for Lean and continuous improvement in their respective areas of responsibility. Consults with business leaders, as assigned, to identify and prioritize organizational problems
Contributor to analysis, problem solving and execution of complex organizational problems as prioritized by the Lean and continuous improvement deployment strategy and objectives
Provides expert consultation and training to business partners, executives and other deployment sponsors, deployment stakeholders, junior BTO Lean team members, and associates at all levels of the organization on the use of Lean and continuous improvement techniques, tools and methods. Prepares education materials and presentations to increase awareness and effectiveness of Lean and continuous improvement across the organization and market BTO services.
Contributes significantly to the ongoing development and refinement of the enterprise Lean and continuous improvement deployment and sustainability models. Designs and develops models, practices and procedures to utilize across the enterprise. Responsible for consistency and continuity of Lean and continuous improvement consulting work across the enterprise.
Manages collaborative relationships with vendors, partners and suppliers to support project plans. May require integration of process improvements into supplier’s products in order to support overall project goals.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Undergraduate degree in Engineering or Business. Graduate degree in related areas preferred.
License/Certification/Designation: Black Belt/Lean certification strongly preferred. Product-related technical insurance course work (CPCU, CPU, LOMA) preferred.
Experience: Typically five to eight years’ relevant business experience; three years in a Lean and/or continuous improvement leadership role and ability to demonstrate significant experience leading multiple projects to successful completion
Knowledge: Maintains and comprehends business/systems process operations or redesign techniques, methods and tools. Maintains current understanding of technological, societal and environmental trends to support process design and operations to improve performance. Maintains current understanding of insurance and financial services industry, focusing on the Nationwide enterprise and its key competitors.
