The AVP, Enterprise Digital Assets will be responsible for leading the creation and evolution of the strategy for Nationwide's digital ecosystem with internal and external partners, including websites, mobile assets, and new technologies for the Enterprise. Accountable for specific strategies for owned assets that support the overarching ecosystem strategy, including marketing and content strategies and strategic intent of assets. Accountable for delivery of innovation and thought leadership to identify, evaluate, and recommend new technologies and capabilities for the Enterprise to pilot and launch. Lead strategic efforts to drive achievement of business goals through strategy for digital capabilities. Responsible for connecting the strategy through planning and tactical execution efforts to ensure consistency and drive results.

Job Description

Reporting Relationships: Reports SVP and Chief Digital Officer. Direct reports (Sr. Consultant, Digital Strategy - 2; Consultant, Digital Strategy - 1; Sr. Consultant, Digital Marketing -1). Indirect reports (Consultant, Digital Marketing - 2).

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for developing and leading the strategy development and maintenance of Nationwide's Digital ecosystem across the Enterprise, including defining the strategic intent for owned assets, opportunities to leverage partner assets, and driving business outcomes for the Enterprise through digital capabilities. Owned assets include Nationwide websites, apps, and new technology. Responsible for being the main contact for partners across the enterprise to align on enterprise digital strategies and collaborate on solutions.

  • Lead ongoing assessment of current capabilities and the competitive position of digital features vs competitors in the market. Responsible for ensuring key metrics are achieved in terms of ratings and rankings, increased usage and engagement, and business unit objectives like self-service efficiencies. Accountable for linking the strategy to business need and deliver financial benefits back to the enterprise (e.g., efficiencies through automation, increases in customer retention, etc.)

  • Responsible for leading the development of marketing strategies for all enterprise assets, including SEO and Blog content efforts, and associated budgets to effectively promote digital assets, drive traffic, and increase adoption of digital capabilities. Accountable for coordination with marketing and business partners to align these strategies with business plans and to drive appropriate KPIs and ongoing monitoring and reporting of progress against KPIs.

  • Accountable for leading efforts to provide thought leadership, with UX teams, regarding recommended research to analyze the market and target audiences, as well as industry and competitor actions for ongoing maturity and relevancy of the enterprise digital assets and the identification of other digital areas the teams must focus on to evolve and keep Nationwide relevant within the digital space.

  • Responsible for the alignment of the strategic focus for Enterprise Assets and the Digital Ecosystem with the Digital Planning, Build, and IT teams to ensure consistency and alignment throughout the Digital Portfolio for all Enterprise Assets and drive progress towards common business goals. Accountable for revising strategy based on business goal results to continue to evolve digital capabilities at Nationwide.

  • Lead relationships with Marketing and Business partners across the Enterprise on strategy development efforts to align business goals to digital strategies and monitor and communicate progress and results. Including leading cross-functional teams and workshops to drive alignment and innovative solutions with senior leaders.

  • Accountable for delivering the Agent Digital Marketing program for Independent Agents. Responsible for delivering and evolving the Agent Digital Marketing program to bring benefit to Independent Agents and drive brand recommendation for Nationwide. Responsible for managing the vendor slate that is offered through the program to agents and ensuring they're best-in-class and delivering solutions that are most meaningful for IAs. Accountable for evolving the solutions that are offered to best meet agent needs.

  • Responsible for leading digital efforts to innovate new solutions for enterprise digital assets, including bringing in new technology and digital marketing partners to learn about new solutions for Nationwide and determine whether or not to recommend investment.

  • Accountable for communicating strategy and results to senior leaders across the enterprise and ensuring they're aligned with the strategic direction of enterprise assets, including management of the executive Digital Council.

  • Lead a team of 6+ associates directly and virtual teams of 20+ to drive digital strategic efforts for Nationwide. Oversees associate management including performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow and organization planning, day-to-day management, hiring and placement, and disciplinary actions for direct and possibly indirect reports.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: BA in Business, Marketing or Information Technology; Graduate Degree in Information Technology, Marketing or MBA preferred

License/Certification/Designation: Project Management Professional or Certified Agile Leader

Experience: Typically, 10 years in digital and technology solutions

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: High technical acumen focused on digital area, exceptional problem solving and critical thinking ability, skilled in agile and scaled agile framework processes, solid business background, research and customer experience.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
